When the company first joined forces with the fabled Namiki company of Japan in the 1930s, the pens that came forth from this union were stunning, sublime, and instantly recognised as the finest pens in the world.

Today Alfred Dunhill Namiki pens are highly sought after by collectors. In fact the record price for a pen sold at auction is currently held by an Alfred Dunhill Namiki 'Giant' fountain pen made in 1930, which sold for £23,000 at Bonham's the auction house in July 1998.

In 1927,Alfred Dunhill was one of the world's most renowned purveyors of motorists' accessories. In that year, he designed a lighter which took many styling clues from the cars of the time. It had a dual fuel tank – petroleum, naturally, and incorporated a windshield to protect the flame from the breeze generated by the swift progress along the new main roads. For 1999, it's back with a design enhanced to encompass contemporary style in a choice of four finishes – from traditional silver and crocodile through to tin nickel, silver and gold plate.

For 1999, Alfred Dunhill has created a whole range of accessories with an unusual ‘horn’ finish whose pattern is unique to each piece.

Echoing the Alfred Dunhill Unique Eyewear with horn finish, launched in 1998, the range of accessories includes the Unique lighter with horn finish, Horn Cufflinks and Horn collar stiffeners.

The Unique lighter carries off this new look with flair and panache, blending this new finish with traditional silver or gold for a completely contemporary feel. The flame of the Unique can be adapted for cigars (using an optional wider burner). The mini version is absolutely ideal for the handbag.
