Seamaster-For Adventure Lovers on Land And Sea
Since the first very versions, the legendary Seamaster has been a watch to live up to the most rugged challenges, marking man's most exciting adventures. 1932- beginning with OMEGA's first diver watch, Seamaster predecessor the "Marine", OMEGA participates in some of the most thrilling moments in the conquest of the sea.
1948- inspired by the water-resistant quality of the "Marine" and the 30mm models delivered to the British Royal Air Force during the Second World War, OMEGA launches a reliably sturdy automatic watch named "Seamaster".
1962: after the sinking of his hydroplane, an American seadiver-pilot observed: "We dove 45 metres to the sunken cabin to recuperate any objects still intact. All we found was my underwater camera and my Seamaster watch, which started running as if nothing had happened." And his Seamaster was guaranteed water-resistant to 30 metres!
1981- Off the island of Elba, Italy, the Frenchman Jacques Mayol, wearing an OMEGA Seamaster, sets a world-free diving record (without scuba) to a depth of 101 metres.
1995- Team New Zealand wins the America's Cup, the world's most prestigious sailing trophy since 1851, with team leader Sir Peter Blake and his crew wearing the OMEGA Seamaster! OMEGA is the official timekeeper for America's Cup 2000 and for the Cup Defender Team New Zealand.
