Suunto, which means "direction" in Finnish, is based in Vantaa, Finland, just outside Helsinki. The company began manufacturing field compasses in Scandinavia in 1936.
Today, Suunto is a leading manufacturer in the world of sports instruments for a variety of sports, including skiing, hiking, diving, sailing and now golf.
Suunto is owned by Helsinki-based parent company Amer Sports. Amer Group Plc is a leading global sports equipment company with its internationally recognized brands Wilson, Atomic, Suunto and Precor.
