Tissot’s 150th Anniversary Commemorative Limited Editions-Two exceptional timepieces for an exceptional occasion

To celebrate its 150 years of watch-making heritage, Tissot launched its commemorative limited edition automatic chronometer watches, inspired by one of its most prestigious timepieces created exactly 56 years ago in December 1946.  The top of the range chronograph watch is available in 8888 limited numbered pieces in stainless steel, as well as in 1853 combined steel and gold, 1853 gold and 150 platinum. With its complicated decorated traditional movement with counters at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and its 19th century-style engraved back case with gilded oscillation weight showing the foundation and anniversary dates of 1853 and 2003, this timepieces embodies the very best of past and present technology, and promises to be something to be treasured by collectors from around the world.  In addition there is also a limited three-hand version both in steel and in gold, also in numbered pieces.

Tissot celebrated its 150th anniversary with a special replica heritage wristwatch of one of the most prestigious models in the Tissot historical collection.  The watch has an elegant polished case with a unique lug design and decorated high-end elaborated ETA automatic chronograph officially certified 5-position chronometer movement, with the traditional harmonious counter position of 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and a date window.  The watch also sports a tachometer with the twelve hours marked by embossed indices and a sunken minute ring.  The watch face is slightly domed as is the hesalite glass and is marked with the traditional Tissot heritage logo, characteristic of all the replica models, the “T” of which is also embossed on the crown.  The watch comes with a black or brown genuine alligator watch strap and folding buckle, again marked with the heritage “Tissot”.

The open top part of the engraved case back reveals the complicated 37-jewel movement whereas the lower open window at the base shows the gilded oscillation weight with its Côte de Genève pattern, marked with the date of the foundation of the company in 1853 and this special anniversary year of 2003.  A traditional 19th century engraving style therefore “interacts” with the innovative idea of a dated oscillation weight, creating a fusion between past and present, with the Tissot logo engraved on the back inspired by that of the early pocket watches – an illustration of Tissot’s corporate claim:  Innovators by Tradition and a fitting timepiece therefore to reflect the 150 years of Tissot watch heritage, combining the very best of traditional watch-making savoir-faire with a modern twist.

In addition to this top of the range chronometer chronograph, Tissot launched a three-hand chronometer, also a limited numbered edition.
