Admiral’s CupBoldness, creativity, innovation. The three fundamental concepts on which Corum has based its product policy take on their true value and constitute the signature of the new Admiral’s Cup. The famous watch on which the hour numerals are replaced by colourful nautical pennants of the international maritime code is a Corum exclusive. 1960. The Swiss watchmaker launched its first Admiral’s Cup watch, a model that was entirely different from subsequent versions. The model featured a square, water-resistant case (a technical feat for the time) with a case back engraved with the outline of a sailboat competing in a regatta and the name Admiral’s Cup, in tribute to the famous international sailing competition created three years previously. 1982. Introduction of the famous model with nautical pennants, which attracted immediate attention due to its originality. Its fame was further established the following year when Corum presented it to the winners of the Mumm Admiral’s Cup, a prestigious competition recognised in the highest international sailing circles. For more than fifteen years, the reputation of this watch, which became a symbol of victory carrying an inimitable taste of salt winds and champagne, continued to grow and develop – to the extent that some even said it had “built its worldwide fame on the victories of its sailboats.” 2002. Twenty years, on, Corum decided to refocus this extremely powerful image on the h itself, by personalising the new model through an entirely rejuvenated design. The new Admiral’s Cup rises admirably to the challenge and is re emerging on all five continents as one of the most coveted symbols for all those who appreciate the daring elegance of a sophisticated and extremely sporting watch governed by a strong, distinctive and resolutely contemporary aesthetic appeal. The Admiral’s Cup is now back in an entirely updated version in steel or gold, with an original and unusual case profile designed like the railings on a ship. A large domed crystal tops both the dial and its twelve-sided rotating bezel enriched with the vivid colours of the famous nautical pennants used in the numerical international maritime code. The original shape of its bracelet lugs is reminiscent of the centre-board on a competition sailboat, while the open case back protected by a transparent sapphire crystal reveals the ornamental work on its oscillating weight driving the automatic movement. It is adorned with coloured pennants representing the figures of the watch production year. A sailboat is also engraved there, in memory of the very first Admiral’s Cup created by Corum in 1960. The most strikingly original features of the case, the ship’s railing profile and centre-board shaped lugs, are echoed in the design of the steel or gold bracelet. The latter is also distinguished by a special adjustable double safety clasp exclusive to Corum and the personalised Admiral’s Cup cover.
