Zenith Baby DollLike an ode to an imaginary sky, these models are the Milky Way in miniature: the power reserve is a comet, the second hand is a star revolving around itself. Its heart can be glimpsed through the aperture of the dial: an El Primero 4021 chronograph on the STAR OPEN SKY models and an Elite 68 movement on the BABY STAR OPEN SKY models. The numerals of the over-large and scaled-down indexes gyrate in a spirited dance, echoed by the oscillating weight, which is visible through a sapphire glass sprinkled with stars. Different-sized diamonds are scattered on the “peep-hole”-mounted dial. The straps are made of pumiced lizard skin. Iridescent white, mother of pearl pink, pearl grey and blue jean, the painter’s palette is all in pastels. The encounter between a shell and a star: like Venus rising out of the ocean, these works of art come in two sizes, El Primero chronograph or Elite calibre, like their celestial comrades. But the curved case, the mother-of-pearl dial, the galuchat strap are reminiscent of the marine universe. They are in fact water-resistant up to 100 m. Starfish frolic on the dial. Engrossed in their dalliance, they may outline a power reserve here, a small second hand here or then again a chronometer. A sculptor has shaped the bezel and the oscillating weight, and a good fairy has placed a sliver of eternity on the dial: a natural white, pink or black pearl; a turquoise, coral or jade cabochon. The greens, blues, pinks and reds of the stainless steel models are vivid and contrasted like multihued fish in a giant aquarium. The mother-of-pearl whites and sea urchin blacks toy more discreetly with light and shade. Pink or yellow gold add a touch of warmth. In all models, tiny diamonds cover the stars on the bezel here and there. This is the ideal moment to close your eyes, to listen to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach, to feel the hot sand under your feet and the tropical sun caressing your skin… Paradise is right there, within reach, under the star of ZENITH.
