Loftus Versfeld Stadium, PretoriaLoftus Versfeld Stadium, South AfricaLoftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria MapTshwane 2010 World Cup Match Venue - Loftus Versfeld StadiumLoftus Versfeld Stadium (Loftus) is one of South Africa’s oldest and most established stadiums. The site has been used for sports events since 1903 and the first concrete structure, which could accommodate 2,000 spectators, was built by the City Council of Pretoria in 1923. Since 1948 it has been upgraded continuously and has hosted numerous international events, sporting and otherwise. As such, Loftus underwent relatively minor upgrades to meet the stringent FIFA requirements. The major upgrade was the new roof over the eastern pavilion. In addition, the stadium received new media and venue operations centres (VOC), new ablution facilities and a new lift, amongst others. Loftus is home to the Premier Soccer League clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport United as well as the rugby union club, the Blue Bulls.
