Totally
revamped following a recent $2.8 million (approximately £1.7 million)
facelift Grafton Beach Resort, now more luxurious than ever, re-opened
its doors in early January 2003 with an improved lobby, restaurant, bar,
leisure facilities and swimming pool, regaining its place as one of Tobago’s
premier hotels.
The extensive
renovations that took place in November and December 2002, just one year
after the Grafton Beach Resort’s guest rooms were upgraded, spanned
from replacing the lobby and reception area’s furniture with Indonesian
style loungers and re-tiling the pool area to the creation of a new beach
bar and restaurant offering guests typically Caribbean beach barbeques,
grills and buffets.
Grafton Beach
Resort has also extended its leisure facilities including non-motorised
water sports and an air-conditioned games centre. The enhancement programme
also continues with plans for a wedding chapel. The decision
to develop a chapel within the resort grounds coincides with a rise of
wedding bookings at the hotel demonstrating that the Caribbean remains
a favourite destination for romance.
The chapel is set within the property's five acres of
idyllic lush tropical gardens and just across from the palm-fringed bay
within hearing distance of the gently rolling waves.
Grafton Beach
Resort, the foremost hotel in Tobago, is just five miles [15 minutes drive]
from Crown Point International Airport.
Designed
in an octagonal shape, Grafton Beach Resort’s Wedding Chapel will
seat 15 guests and house a small alter. To ensure maximum comfort to wedding
parties, air-conditioning will be fitted within the chapel and will replicate
traditional Caribbean churches with the use of typical Caribbean wood
and fretwork.
