Madeira is a Portuguese archipelago that lies in the mid
Atlantic Ocean. Madeira is one of the Autonomous regions of Portugal, with
Madeira Island and Porto Santo Island being the only inhabited islands. Madeira
is an outermost region of the European Union. The archipelago is considered by
the African Union as part of the African continent.
Like most states in Europe, Summer (Daylight-Saving) Time is
observed in
Madeira, where the time is shifted forward by 1 hour
to
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
After the Summer months the time is shifted back by 1
hour to Madeira Time (GMT-1).
