EnglandWebsite: England-UK.orgThe country of England (part of the UK)
England shares land borders with other UK nations Scotland, to the north and Wales, to the west. England is named after the Angles, one of a number of Germanic tribes believed to have originated in Angeln in Northern Germany, who settled in England in the fifth and sixth centuries. England has not had a distinct political identity since 1707, when Great Britain was formed. England, however, has a separate legal system from Scotland and Northern Ireland. England's largest city, London , is also the capital of the United Kingdom.
