About Japan Airlines
Japan Airlines operates two airline companies under the JAL name: Japan Airlines International and Japan Airlines Domestic. JAL has the largest fleet of Boeing 747's in the world and is the only Asian airline that flies to Mexico City.
Japan Airlines History
Japan Airlines was established in 1951 as a private company. In 1953, it was established in accordance with the Japan Airlines Law as a government-owned company. More than 30 years later, the government stake, 34%, was sold off entirely and JAL returned to the private sector. In 2004, the corporate name changed to Japan Airlines International Co., Ltd.
