TAROM is the Romanian national airline, almost entirely owned by the state. In
2004, TAROM celebrated its 50th anniversary. The company has a fleet of 16
aircraft.
TAROM-Romanian Airlines
History
TAROM was established in September 1954 and six years later, the airline was
operating to almost all European countries. In the mid-60s, TAROM operated its
first flight across the Atlantic and had introduced by 1974 scheduled flights to
New York and Beijing and Sydney, via Calcutta. In the early 90s TAROM started
modernising its fleet and stopped operating most of the inefficient destinations
(like Beijing).
