The USA has been enjoying a massive pizza party,
thanks to Papa John's celebrating the opening of its 3,000th restaurant.
Founder and chairman John Schnatter, along with British born CEO Nigel Travis
were both on hand to join in the festivities as over 8,000 slices of pizza were
given away free to grateful Manhattan commuters.
And it wasn't only free pizza that was being given away, with mountain bikes,
drinks and many other items were also being dished out. And company bosses made
sure that it was not only New Yorkers that felt the benefit of the 3,000th store
opening extravaganza, with pizza stores across the UK offering free pizza slices
to local people, and also a donation of $20,000 being made to City Harvest, a
charity dedicated to feeding hungry and homeless people.
Papa John's is famous for its "Better Ingredients. Better Pizza" pledge, and
they highlighted that to visitors by handing out fresh, vine ripened tomatoes -
showing how highly they value the use of top quality fresh ingredients.
