| Brazil FlagWhat is the flag of Brazil? The flag of Brazil is green with a large yellow diamond in the centre bearing a blue celestial globe with 27 white five-pointed stars (one for each state and the Federal District) arranged in the same pattern as the night sky over Brazil; the globe has a white equatorial band with the motto ORDEM E PROGRESSO (Order and Progress).
Coat of Arms
The Coat of Arms of Brazil was created in November 19, 1889, 4 days after Brazil became a republic. The coat of arms consists of the central emblem surrounded by coffee (at the left) and tobacco (at the right) branches, which are important crops in Brazil. In the blue circle in the center, the Southern Cross (also known as Crux) can be seen. The ring of 27 stars around it represents Brazil's 26 states and 1 federal district. The blue ribbon contains the official name of Brazil (República Federativa do Brasil - Federative Republic of Brazil) in its first line. In the second line, the date of the federative republic's establishment (November 15, 1889) is written.
