Montgomery: short history and tourist attractions
Montgomery
County was created by the Mississippi Territory General Assembly on 1816 Dec. 6.
It is located in the south-central part of the state and is bounded on the north
by the Alabama and Tallapoosa Rivers.
The county was named in honour of Major Lemuel
Putnam Montgomery (Tennessee) who was killed in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend,
1814. The county seat was established in Montgomery, which was also selected as
the state capital in 1846.

From Civil War to Civil Rights, Montgomery today is a rich
product of its past. Explore 19th century living at Old Alabama Town, experience
Montgomery's artistic side at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts or enjoy the
day reliving Civil Rights' history. Young or old, Montgomery offers a variety of
attractions to satisfy any traveller.

River Skate Park features a 5' mini ramp. Every week, it hosts
sessions for BMX riders, that come from all over the state of Alabama to skate
and have fun.
There's easy access from suburbs and free parking.
It's located next to hotels and restaurants.
Other tourist attractions: Fort Toulouse/Jackson Park, Shakespeare Gardens.
