Elton John and Park Place
Entertainment Corporation, one of the world's leading gaming companies, have
signed an exclusive agreement for the artist to perform 75 shows over three
years at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, beginning on February 13,
2004.
To create a unique
environment in the 4,100-seat Colosseum, the renowned photographer and director
David LaChappelle will serve as the production designer and director for Elton
John's Colosseum engagements titled "The Red Piano." Creating a distinctive
show, exclusive to Caesars Palace, LaChappelle will blend Elton's breathtaking
music with vibrant visual imagery making these Colosseum engagements a unique
spectacular unlike any previous Elton John performance.
Elton John will be
performing with his band: Davey Johnstone on guitar; Guy Babylon on keyboards;
Bob Birch on bass guitar; John Mahon on percussion; and Nigel Olsson on drums.
"By bringing Elton John, one
of the best-known and best-loved performers in the world, to an extended
engagement at Caesars Palace, we've established The Colosseum as the nation's
premier musical showcase for top tier talent," said Park Place President and
Chief Executive Officer Wallace R. Barr.
"Today, Caesars Palace again
boasts a full-house of elite entertainers so famous that each is known by a
single name: Elton, Celine, Seinfeld," said Caesars Palace President Mark
Juliano. "We are honored to welcome an artist of Elton John's caliber to The
Colosseum," Juliano added.
The newly announced
performances by Elton John will not alter the show schedule for "A New Day..."
starring Celine Dion.
