About Buffalo Wild Wings
Jim Disbrow founded Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar with Scott Lowery in 1982 with just that spirit of friendliness and service in mind. It’s something of a legend with Buffalo Wild Wings, the way this company started. The way they tell it, one night in Columbus, Ohio Jim and Scott got hungry for chicken wings. Not just any old chicken wings, mind you, but the kind they first tried up in Buffalo, NY – they were looking for chicken wings spun in a hot barbecue sauce and served up with a side of blue cheese salad dressing and celery. Well, lucky for millions of people across the country, Jim and Scott never found those wings. Instead, they opened up their own restaurant on the campus of Ohio State University, called it Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck, and began serving thousands of chicken wings a week, spun in their own recipe of hot barbecue sauce that people in Columbus came to crave. Customers in Columbus liked the wings, the tasty sandwiches with the unique bun and liked the casual, friendly atmosphere – that they gave the place the nickname bw-3.
Jim and Scott (and a seasoned team of restaurant executives that came aboard beginning in 1996) continued to expand their menu, to what are now 12 proprietary sauces from mild Teriyaki to the trademarked Better-Be-Ready Blazin’™.
Over the course of the next 20 years, bw-3 changed its name to Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar and opened 164 locations in 26 states, including New York, Minnesota, Texas, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
