In 1962, Motel 6 developed a unique concept, where travellers could find
consistent quality economy lodging at the lowest price of any national brand. In
1990, Motel 6 was acquired by an investor group led by Accor. Motel 6 is the
largest company-owned and operated budget lodging chain in the United States.
Motel 6 appeals to value-conscious travellers: over 80% of its guests are not
reimbursed for their travel expenses. The senior market is an important customer
base.
