About Planet Beach Franchising
Planet Beach Franchising Corporation is the largest and fastest growing tanning
salon franchise. Since opening in 1995 in New Orleans, LA, Planet Beach
has gone on to award more than 400 locations and serve over 260,000 clients
throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.
In April 1995, Stephen P. Smith opened a single tanning salon
in New Orleans, LA. His goal was to create a tanning experience similar to that
of a beach vacation, a vacation that was relaxing yet stimulating and also a bit
“other worldly.” Thus, Planet Beach was born.
The company began awarding franchises in 1996 and in October of that same year
the first franchised location opened in Lilburn, Georgia.
Since then, Planet Beach has grown from one tanning salon to over 150 locations
currently open with another 250 salons in various stages of development.
The company focuses solely on the service of tanning and the
sale of retail products to enhance the tanning experience.
