Cendant Corporation introduced Wingate Inns International, an original, new-construction-only, mid-priced hotel chain in April 1995. The first Wingate Inn hotel opened a year later. In 2004, the Wingate Inn hotel chain was ranked first in its class and the third among all hotel brands in North America by J.D. Power and Associates, based on the firm’s annual consumer satisfaction study. The Wingate Inn brand was named best mid-priced hotel chain by Entrepreneur magazine, one of its 11th Annual Business Travel Awards, in the April 2004 issue. The hotel chain was recognized in the Zagat Survey 2003 and 2004 Top U.S. Hotels, Resorts and Spas guide. Ranked highest in the Market Metrix Hospitality Index among Upper Mid-Price Hotels for the second and third quarters of 2003. Free services and amenities include wired and wireless high-speed Internet access, faxes and copies, deluxe continental breakfast, local calls, long distance access and 24-hour self-service business center equipped with computers with high-speed Internet access, a fax, copier and printer. Every room features two- line speakerphone with voice-mail and conference calling, a 900 megahertz cordless phone, a large desk in a well- lit work area, on-demand movies and Internet-enabled TV, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board and safe. Each hotel features a boardroom and meeting rooms with high-speed Internet access, a fitness room with a whirlpool and, at most locations, a swimming pool.
